Function
This product combines wetting and soaping action in one step, used in the alkaline wash that follows reactive or vat dyeing. It wets the fabric out at the start of the bath, then holds any unfixed dye in solution so it washes away instead of redepositing. Combining both steps saves a stage in the process without giving up wash fastness.
Typical applications and what it solves
- Residual hydrolysed dye and poor wash fastness after reactive or vat dyeing
- Combining the wetting and soaping steps into a single bath to save a process step
- Soaping baths run at alkaline pH where an anionic product's performance may fall away
